Was looking at the possibility of mounting a FTP drive as a network drive, and found that there was several things in this area I didn't know.
Note if using a Gmail account, then one can use the
GMail Drive shell extension (Max 10 MByte files) to map it as a network drive, or use
RoamDrive (No file size limit). This is not officially supported by Google, so it will only work as long Google doesn't start blocking it.

Have now configured a
news feed which is a mashup of different news sources about Microsoft Windows. It is now much easier to follow multiple news sites without needing to shovel through advertisements.
Note a flaw has also been discovered in the
Multimedia Class Scheduler service (MMCSS), which causes it to throttle the network speed unnecessary especially when using 1 Gigabit network and playing music. It becomes even worse if having several network adapters installed. Until a patch is released the solution to the network slow down seems to be disabling the service if affected by this bug. The initial list of
Windows Vista services is now ready. Have been borrowing a lot from the following places:
- ITsVista.com - Good description of the services beyond the one-liner from Microsoft, but doesn't have description for all the services yet.
- BlackViper.com - Complete list of all services with serveral configuration recommendations, but not much description of why.
The only services that I have found that one could consider to disable is all the services used for the Windows Media Center (Only installed with Home Premium and Ultimate). But I have feeling that in the near future when most people want to stream music and movies from the Internet to their television, then these services have to be activated anyway.

Discovered how to activate
gzip compression for WP-Cache in IIS, so now the pages should be quicker to load.

Have been checking the 404 errors, and have fixed a few redirects. Also confirmed my fear of performance problems when using shared web-hosting, as there was a short moment of 5 minutes where all page request took 15 secs. or more to load (WP-Cache or not).
