These processes are running under my Windows 2000 Task Manager: LexBceS.exe, Lexpps.exe. They are both in my system32 folder and made by Lexmark, making me think they have something to do with my Compaq IJ600 printer. Under Services, LexBce Server is set to Manual and starts LexBces.exe after I log on. Could you please provide additional information about the two processes and if it’s safe to disable the LexBce Server service? Thanks.
I have little experience with 3rd Party Printer Services, but I guess they they probably provide monitoring of the connected printer, and show warnings if printer is out of paper or ink/toner etc. More information about the nature of these service can probably be found at forums/fansites for the hardware manufacture.
I don’t believe they are critical for your system to run, and if you want to know if you can print without having the services started, then I recommend to disable the services and see if your printer is still operational.
