• Configure User Account Protection

  User Account Control (UAC) makes sure that daily tasks are not performed with administrator privileges.

• Configure the login and Welcome Screen in Vista

  Windows Vista does not have the classic logon screen, which has been replaced by the Welcome Screen.

• Disable the MSDOS and Win16 subsystem

  For security measures then one should consider disabling the ability to launch the 16 bit subsystem.

• Restrict access to removable storage devices

  Restrict access to removable storage devices to prevent misuse of them by an intruder.

• Run programs elevated without UAC prompt

  Launch application with administrator rights without the User Account Protection popup dialog.
