- Note Ext3 is pretty much Ext2 with journal support, so unless accessing a Ext3 partition with uncommitted journal entries (improper shutdown), then Ext3 partitions can be accessed like a Ext2 partition.
Explore2fs cannot map Ext2 volumes as normal drive letters, but is a GUI explorer tool for browsing Ext2 partitions within Windows. They are also working on Virtual Volumes that will make it possible to mount Ext2 (and other partition formats like LVM and ReiserFS) inside Windows (Still BETA).
DiskInternals Linux Reader is a GUI explorer for browsing Ext2 / Ext3 partitions, which can be used to access files on Linux partitions inside Windows.
Yeah, and Ext2IFS also supposedly uses GPL'd code against the license.
one problem i did face with the ext2IFS driver was that once installed i had lots of problems using windows update for some reason (prob due to my ham fisted xp install!!) but using autopatcher got around the issue.
Not a fix but i stopped using the driver & just use the gui or cmd tool to access what i need from ubuntu install which these day's is getting less & less due to the fact im logged into ubuntu more than windows now :0)
most games also work with a glass of wine too :0)
